Have you ever been sitting down, relaxing watching television and you see something there that makes you think to yourself I would like that, that’s what I want to do. Something that is completely different to whatever you would do in normal circumstances. As soon as this feeling comes, it is followed by a funny feeling in your tummy and you say, nah. Every so often you think about the picture and still think you would like to do it ,could be living in another country, changing your job, changing your relationship. What is it that’s stopping you?

According to the David Derbyshire writing in the Dail Mail this week, nine out of ten New Year's resolutions will fail. A study of 30,000 volunteers was taken by Professor Richard Wiseman of the University of Hertfordshire. 52% said they were confident that they would stick to their goals but only 12% had actually achieved it.
It doesn't have to be that way though.

Guess what I have done, I have given up smoking. Well I haven’t had a cigarette for ages (two weeks and counting) and yes I have become one of those people who can’t stand the smell of cigarette smoke. How did I do it.

How many missed opportunities have you had because of procrastination?
My dad used to work for a chap (my dad is 92 so I am going back a long long way). This chap wanted to start another business and because of my dad’s expertise in his field, his boss asked him to be a partner. Dad thought and thought “what if”, “I will talk about it with him tomorrow” – you get the picture and he let the chance go by. His ex boss became a millionaire without my dad. The thing was my dad had let that awful 4 letter word get in his way which caused him to procrastinate – that was FEAR.

I wonder if they were procrastinating about how they played? Could they have played that little bit better? What could have they done better?

It is my passion to get procrastinators to stop dithering and take action. Once you start procrastinating, it becomes a habit and sometimes you don't even realise you are doing it? Here's the punch line: HABITS CAN BE BROKEN.
Today I had a few small housework things to do, tidy up put the washing on. As I went upstairs to get the washing, I passed my office - the computer was on - I sat down and fingers poised went to hit the 'log in' button. Then I said to myself, "what are you doing, you have a few small jobs to do, do it and then you have the rest of the day". I DID. I have now done my few jobs, my reward is writing this blog, with a fresh head.
Here are a few quotes on Procrastination, compiled by Lynne Lee

Let me ask you a question how often do you put off doing something you know you need to do? What stops you? What about decisions, how often do you put off making a decision. How comfortable are you in doing task? Motivation, is that also a problem for you? How does it make you feel, stressed, frustrated with yourself?
The cause of this task avoidance could be put down to the procrastination syndrome.
Fear not, you are not alone. Most people suffer from this at one time or another. I know I am one of those people!
